A little miracle

The other day Da Kid forwarded to me an email with an attached photograph that had been sent out by his department's chief. I knew the story behind it because coming in after a shift a few days before, the first words out of Da Kid mouth when he walked in the door had been, "Did Daddy tell you about the little girl?"

Da Kid hadn't been involved but on his station's radio had heard all the traffic starting from when the call went out: Parents had found their small daughter floating in a pond on their property.

The firefighter arrived an instant before Life Squad did. Continuing CPR they loaded the little girl into Life Squad within a minute or so of their arrival heading for the closest hospital. Thirteen minutes later, just minutes before they arrived there, she began to breathe on her own again.
