At a distance, I cannot come up with the name of a single Democrat of note. No Kennedy, no Johnson; the slippery slope began, IMO, with the colourless Mondale and the lady side-kick Feraro - who was equally tepid.
When Communism "collapsed" circa 1990, so did liberalism, partly because its aims had been achieved in the three decades earlier. The Democrats have nowhere to go, ideologically. Does anyone know what they stand for apart from kicking Bush?
