FYI

"I'm Jim Broussard," he said, "and I took this flag down in honor of my country with … a knife from the United States Army. I'm a veteran, I'm not going to see this done to my country. If they want to fight us, then they need to be men, and they need to come and fight us. But I want somebody to fight me for this flag. They're not going to get it back." -- WorldNetDaily

The flag Broussard is holding, the one he's daring "somebody" to try to take away from him, is the American Flag.

He also cut down and left on the ground the Mexican flag a shop owner in Reno, Nevada, was flying over it.

The American Crazy Lawyers Union has issued a statement that contrary to media reports covering this story that flying another country's flag over our own is NOT illegal.

Newsbusters disagrees with the ACLU and even provides the citation to back it up.

Not surprisingly, Hispanic leaders in Reno are trying to get the bar's Mexican owner to file charges against Broussard.

I don't think Broussard has anything to worry about, since I just saw him interviewed by Neil Cavuto, with an attorney already at his side, who seems to agree with Newsbusters.

Correction (10-05-07): The person appearing with Broussard was talk radio host Bill Manders.

Getting away with murder

Earlier this week Marliano Alberto (pictured) was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in a plea-bargain deal, for the drunk-driving accident in which Russell Nevado was killed.

Alberto, an illegal alien, looks really upset, doesn't he. Yep. He sure does.

The judge also revoked his license for the rest of his life. -- Source
License? Drivers license?

Good move, I guess, since after he's served his sentence Alberto will be turned over to the immigration authorities for deportation.

Let's see now.

With gain time, good time and all the other speshul allowances that enable criminals to serve only a small fraction of their sentence, Alberto will probably be out in less than three years. Then after being deported (if he actually is) he can just bop right back into the United States through our porous borders.

Maybe head to New York State where he can get a DIFFERENT drivers license because by order of that state's idiot governor, illegal aliens can receive them now.

Poor Alberto.

With the way things are going, no wonder he looks so upset.

FYI

Happy Constitution Day and Citizenship Day!

Whazzat?

In 2005 and . . .

. . . pursuant to legislation passed by Congress, educational institutions receiving Federal funding are required to hold an educational program pertaining to the United States Constitution on September 17 of each year.
Meanwhile . . .

Just three months after the Senate immigration bill met its well-deserved end, amnesty advocates in the U.S. Congress resumed their efforts. Recently, Senator Richard Durbin (D–IL) announced on the Senate floor his intention to offer the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act as an amendment to the defense authorization bill. -- Human Events Online
(I can sure understand how that amendment ties in with the defense authorization bill. Yep! Sure can. That's how the Dems FINALLY got the hike in the minimimum wage passed. By amendment, they tied it to military funding for our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. But let's not EVER criticize their patriotism, okay?)

Read the Human Events article and as you do, perhaps you can think of a way to help me with a problem.

I've been trying to figure out how Constitution and Citizenship Day is taught in classes filled with illegal aliens, who aren't even asked to learn to speak English.

And I can't.

I-9

If you've done any hiring (or been hired) since the 1986 amnesty given to illegal aliens, you're probably familiar with the form known as an I-9. If not . . .

Part of the law required that an I-9 had to be completed on all new hires to prove that they were in the United States legally, and therefore allowed to work.

Initially it was a big deal. If the Feds ever questioned the legal status of one of the people we hired (they never did) I figured I'd end up in the slammer since it was my signature on the form saying I'd examined the specific, original documents it required, if they turned out to be bogus.

Not that long after, though, it just became another bothersome piece of paper that had to be stuck in the person's personnel file when Human Resources, facing the threat of a lawsuit, said although I was still required to view specific documents all new hires were required to submit, they didn't have to be the originals. The law, it seems, said photocopies of the documents could also be accepted which, in my humble opinion, made the requirement completely worthless.

Not that I liked the requirement to start with. First off, I'm not a trained document examiner. How would I possibly know if the document handed to me was authentic? Counterfeit documents of that nature weren't as prevalent as they are now, but still. It was my butt on the line.

But more than that I just resented the whole damned thing.

Thanks to this new requirement, now I -- a citizen of the United States -- would have to prove that I was every single time I went for a job. And every other person legally in the United States would have to do the same thing.

I felt like we were being punished, instead of those who'd broken the law. And, we were and still are.

~~~~~
Fast forward 21 years to the No-Illegal-Alien-Left-Behind bill and some of its provisions:
All an illegal alien had to do was prove that they'd gotten into the United States before January 1, and they were eligible to file an application for amnesty. The Feds would have 24 hours to complete a background check and, if sufficient reason was found, deny the application, or, the applicant would receive "legal status."
Whut.ever that is.
Anyway, many of we "racist-nativists" who opposed the bill thought this provision was particularly funny.
Having also done eligibility determinations for social service programs (I have a checkered past), I know it can take hours (and sometimes days) to track down verifications on just one application. And now thousands (perhaps millions) had to be completed in one day?
Even better, or worse, the applicant could prove that they were in the United States before January 1 simply by providing "bank records, records from a day-labor center and sworn affidavits from known relatives."
Talk about stringent, fraud-proof, requirements!
~~~~~

Anticipating passage of the No-Illegal-Alien-Left-Behind bill, Julio Leija-Sanchez, a Mexican national in the United States (illegally, of course) expanded his already-lucrative business to meet a new demand:

Julio Leija-Sanchez, who ran a $3 million-a-year forgery operation before he was arrested in April, was expecting Congress to pass a legalization program, which he called "amnesty," and said he could forge documents to fool the U.S. government into thinking illegal aliens were in the country in time to qualify for amnesty, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent said in the affidavit.
Quite obviously, Mr. Leija-Sanchez was not alone in identifying this new market, but not particularly pleased with his competition:

He also was accused of paying $3,000 and conspiring with others to kill two fledgling competitors for stealing computers used to make the phony documents.
Not to worry, though. While the franchise Mr. Leija-Sanchez ran might have experienced a difficulty or two recently, the <polite cough> parent company located IN Mexico has not been affected.

"It's clear that the most capable fraud document cartel in Mexico has been gearing up for comprehensive immigration reform at the same time we have been here on Capitol Hill — only they're ahead of the game," said Michael Maxwell, senior policy analyst for homeland security for Rep. John Culberson, Texas Republican. "They're already making money and will continue to do so." -- Washington Times

You don't say . . .

The Houston Chronicle reports that President Felipe Calderon of Mexico isn't happy with the Senate vote yesterday that stopped -- for now, anyway -- the No-Illegal-Alien-Left-Behind bill.

"It's a mistake," Calderon said. "First, because it's a problem that's not being confronted. And with this evasive action the U.S. Senate is making it worse.

"Secondly, by closing the door on legal immigration, the only thing the Senate does is open the door to illegal immigration."
Isn't this the same joker who said previously that Mexico has absolutely no responsiblity for stopping the illegal drugs being smuggled across the border from Mexico into the United States?

The responsiblity, I'm sure you'll agree with President Calderon, for stopping the drugs being smuggled into the United States by the Mexican drug cartels rests solely on the United States, in the form of stopping the DEMAND for their drugs within our borders.

More than a tenth of Mexico's 103 million people now live in the United States, many of them illegally.
And . . .

Calderon . . . continues to oppose a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border which was approved by Congress last year.
Of course he does. Although the American people -- you know, the ordinary folk who inhabit this country legally -- disagree. Besides, where the heck do you, President Calderon, get off telling US what we should or should not do? Who the HELL do you think you are, Ted Kennedy?

"The American economy could not prosper or advance without the labor of both Mexican and Central American migrants," Calderon said.
If the "labor of both Mexican and Central American migrants" is so valuable to our economy, why are you, President Calderon -- considering the sad state of Mexico's economy -- so intent on us taking them?

(Blogger's acting up again today. Can't edit a damned thing, so here it flies.)

Ponderings

If those of us who oppose the Senate's plan to provide amnesty for illegal aliens and want a fence between the United States and Mexico are racists because there are supposedly so many illegals coming from other countries, why does Dubya keep trotting out Hispanic-surnamed folk at each of his show and tells in its support?

If immigrants are required to prove their grasp of English before they become citizens and only citizens can vote, then why is not providing them with ballots in another language a violation of their civil rights?

If those of us who oppose the Senate's plan to provide amnesty for illegal aliens and want a fence between the United States and Mexico are racists because there are supposedly so many illegals coming from other countries, then why did Dubya make a point of expressing his support for it today at a National Hispanic Caucus Prayer Breakfast?

If Ted Kennedy says the fines and penalties illegals will be required to pay under the Senate's bill will fund the bureauracy processing them will require as well as all the tax-payer funded services they consume, but Dubya says the same fines and penalties will be used to secure our borders, which one is lying?

If the Reid and Company does the exact same thing this year as it did last year, does that indicate that they think we're stupid?

If some pollsters say Obama will be the Dem's nominee in '08 cause he'll carry the black vote 'cause he's black, but others say Hilliary will win 'cause women will vote for her 'cause she's a woman, are they profiling?

What a difference a year makes!

After parading around in major U.S. cities carrying their Mexican flags and yelling demands, to really show us what's what, last May 1 illegal aliens staged a much publicized protest to prove just how much we really need them.

But since that didn't work, this May Day -- the communist day of celebration -- the illegal aliens decided to try something else.

Well, not really.

They're still marching and protesting saying that just 'cause they broke the law as soon as they came into the U.S. illegally, it's really just so mean of us to to hurt their feeling.

Angry over recent raids and frustrated with Congress, thousands of people protested across the country Tuesday to demand a path to citizenship for an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants. -- Washington Post
I suspect 27-year-old Russell De Ocampo Nevado had his feeling hurt, too. As a matter of fact, I'm fairly certain he did when Marliano Alberto -- speeding, driving drunk and on the wrong side of the road -- killed him in a head-on collision.

Marliano Alberto is an illegal alien.

As I said, what a difference a year makes.

Guard the Borders Blogburst

By Loma Alta at LinknZona

Let us try to sort out what this armed invasion from Mexico means in the broader sense.

The US-Mexico border is out of control. Corruption and drug cartels drive Mexico further to a violent, crime-controlled country; our biggest supplier of illegal drugs.

Political self-interest, bribery by a broad spectrum of US industrial and agricultural interests of top US politicians, and the President’s family ties to Mexican “Big Oil” and possible ties to the drug cartels, cause them to support illegal immigration. This, in turn, causes them overlook the armed invasions and the millions of illegal immigrants and their billions of crimes because there are votes, political power, and big money in supporting illegal immigration.

Smuggling, illegal immigration, drugs, murder and other crimes are spilling over the US-Mexico border and making many areas no-go zones. In Arizona, for example, I previously reported that the US Forest Service posts signs warning US citizens to avoid areas of the US National Forests and the Arizona Fish and Game Department warns hunters to avoid all of southern Arizona south of the I-10 and I-8 corridors.

That the 2000 mile long open border presents our greatest security threat is obvious.

The Administration and its supporters accuse the Democrats of wanting to “cut and run” from Iraq. At the same time, the Administration denies our National Guard troops on the border permission to defend our country or themselves. When the Mexican Army and/or its drug cartel thugs invade America, our National Guard troops must cut and run. Whatever the reason, it is sickening to see American troops running from Mexicans invading the United States. No one who supports illegal immigration and armed invasion of our country can be a patriot; likewise, all who do are traitors to their country.

Our national government supports illegal immigration. The governors of AZ, CA, NM, and Texas all support illegal immigration. Thus, there is no avenue of redress for the American people short of drastic changes in our national and state governments. Some hope that the Democrat and Republican Parties will wither and be replaced by a patriotic third party. However, this is not happening, and, if it happens, it may be too late to save America. Shed a tear for America all of you who love her. Our only hope may be our prayers to God that through His mercy He will save our nation from its government.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Mexican Gunmen Involved in Arizona Border Incident Actually Uniformed Mexican Force

by Heidi Thiess at Euphoric Reality

The excursion into U.S. territory last week by “Mexican gunmen” was not a chance confrontation between the Arizona National Guard and untrained illegal immigrants, but a deliberate “perimeter probe” by an infantry-trained, uniformed Mexican force, officials say.

Euphoric Reality has learned in exclusive interviews with high-ranking sources within both the Arizona National Guard and the U.S. Border Patrol that the incident the mainstream media calls a “standoff” was in reality a military-style operation, carried out by a unit of Mexican troops dressed in military uniforms, flak jackets, and armed with AK-47s in an apparent operation to probe the border defenses and test the limits of the National Guard troops. Using easily recognizable infantry movement tactics (such as arm and hand signals and flanking maneuvers), the Mexican unit deliberately moved in a military formation across the border from Mexico, where they were picked up by National Guard surveillance.

As the hostile force moved north over the next three hours, deeper into Arizona, National Guardsmen wearing night vision goggles were able to ascertain that the approaching gunmen were indeed uniformed (including PAGST helmets) and heavily armed. When the Mexican unit came within approximately 100 yards of the EIT site, the Guardsmen repositioned themselves in order to maintain surveillance and tactical advantage. They observed the Mexican unit sweep through the EIT site, and then rapidly withdrew back into Mexico. No shots were fired by either the Mexican gunmen or the Guardsmen. Border Patrol was on the scene within minutes of the Mexican unit's withdrawal.

The Guardsmen, through an Arizona Border Patrol official, confirmed that the incident appeared to be an intelligence-gathering exercise designed to ascertain what the National Guard's response would be to certain tactics. It is not an isolated incident, and many such probes have been reported by the Guardsmen assigned to the area. Though no shots were fired during this particular incident, shots have been fired near and in the vicinity of the soldiers at the EIT site in other situations, though not at the soldiers themselves. It is not clear from the uniforms if the Mexican soldiers were official Mexican federales or mercenaries hired by the drug cartels.

Since then, follow-on news reports have included statements from the Border Patrol that no shots were fired. This was confirmed today by Major Paul Aguirre, a Public Affairs Officer (PAO) for the Arizona National Guard. Rumors have circulated that the Guardsmen were not armed, and thus unable to defend themselves - and that is not the case. Both Major Aguirre and Rob Daniels, a Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Arizona Border Patrol, state that all Guardsmen assigned to EITs are armed, specifically with M16s and sometimes a sidearm. As well, there have been some contradictory news reports that stated the gunmen came "within yards" of the Guardsmen, while other reports state that the gunmen were approximately 100 yards away. Mr. Daniels clarified that the gunmen came as close as 100 yards to the Guardsmen. He also stated that the Guardsmen did not "retreat" but tactically repositioned themselves to maintain surveillance of the group of armed men while simultaneously radioing for Border Patrol agents. He asserted that the Guardsmen had followed their protocols perfectly, and that their services were invaluable to the Border Patrol agents.

The Myth of Troops Bringing Law Enforcement to the Border

National Guard soldiers on the border are volunteers deployed by the federal government for Operation Jump Start. They are not mandated to perform law enforcement activities and, in fact, are prohibited from doing so under the Posse Comitatus Act while federally deployed. They are assigned to the border mission for the sole purpose of supporting the Border Patrol - mostly performing administrative, engineering, and maintenance duties that free up Border Patrol agents for border enforcement.

The ramifications of this incident hitting the public awareness are significant. There are incidents on the record of specially-trained military commandos attacking Border Patrol agents, and videos in existence of uniformed Mexicans, deep in American territory, claiming to be reporters when confronted by Arizona Minutemen. Hundreds of armed incursions have been documented by the Border Patrol. In one year, June 2005 until June 2006, over 250 armed assaults have been reported by Border Patrol agents, and several agents have been killed.

Michael Chertoff, head of Homeland Security, has gone on the record to dismiss reports of armed incursions by a uniformed military force as "navigational mistakes", claiming that the Mexican soldiers were "lost.” However, Chertoff offered no explanation as to why these “lost troops” fired on American agents. The Mexican government claims that uniformed military soldiers coming from Mexico are actually American soldiers disguised as Mexican soldiers. Furthermore, when confronted with the possibility that Mexican commandos called Los Zetas, trained by U.S. Special Forces at Fort Bragg to support the Drug War, have defected from the military and now work as mercenaries for the drug cartels, Mexican officials have worked very hard to debunk such evidence. In an official report presented to the U.S. on behalf of the Mexican Office of Inter-Intelligence Affairs, Mexico claimed that “the Zeta army, or syndicate, is no more real than the crying lady of Puebla.”

Yet, contrary to Mexican denials, Los Zetas do exist, and the U.S. Border Patrol is very familiar with them. In a June 2006 investigative news piece by News Channel 5 in Texas, Zetas discussed their training and murderous missions. They also issued a warning:

“These two members of the Zeta army also have a warning for American law enforcement: They are here, with cells operating in Roma, Rio Grande City and Mission - and more are coming.

‘It is not a lie,’ Zeta-2 said. ‘They need to check good, because it is true.’"

Los Zetas: Guns Gone Bad

During the 1990s, U.S. Army Special Forces trained a number of Mexican federal agents and army units in special warfare tactics as part of an effort to aid the struggling Mexican government in the Drug War involving the violent drug cartels of northern Mexico. It's been said that "the training was remedial in nature, and did not exceed international peace time law of NATO forces training foreign combat forces in tactical warfare." Lest we worry about the operational proficiency of such mercenaries, Wikipedia has this unattributed entry:

“The training lasted a mere three months in the sweltering North Carolina heat. In total, 300 Mexican agents and army officers participated in the summer long exercise. Years later, unsealed documents revealed that the training proved to be no more than an extended boot camp. "It was more a media and propaganda effort then it was for actual tactical training that could be used in combat," one of the US Special Forces Officers that participated in the effort stated. "They brought them [sic] boys here, and most of them could fire a gun already, so we just showed them a lot of video of Special Forces training from the early 70's. We were not about to teach or display tactics that make Special Forces what they are. That's why when I read that these boys that are 'Zetas' were Special Forces trained, I almost wet myself with laughter.’”

What the Zetas may lack in professional specialized training, they make up for in ruthless and savage violence. Last year, Times Magazine exposed much of the brutality in an article called Brutal New Drug Gangs Are Terrorizing The U.S.-Mexico Border, and added further information about the identity of Los Zetas.

“According to Mexican officials, Lazcano was a clean-cut Mexican army recruit from the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz when he was picked a decade ago to be part of the highly trained Airborne Special Forces Group. The unit was sent to the eastern border to battle drug trafficking. But in the late 1990s, Lazcano and more than 30 other members of the special forces began working for drug lord Osiel Cardenas, head of the Matamoros-based Gulf cartel, which at the time controlled almost one-third of the Mexican drug trade. “

Official Mexican propaganda notwithstanding, it can be safely assumed that the Zetas are a paramilitary force that has made regular incursions over our border in sometimes heavily-armed assaults. Whether they are actual Mexican federales or uniformed mercenaries in the employ of the drug cartels remains to be seen. Perhaps a small clue to the uniforms is found in the News Channel Five investigative report:

“‘The municipal police, the state police, the ministerial police, the police of the state,’ Zeta-1 said. ‘The soldiers and the federal preventive police. The military on the border. They are bought by the Zetas.’ The Zeta's tools even include uniforms given by the police themselves.”

Regardless of who the uniformed soldiers are, or who commands them, what is paramount is that our southern border security is breached by foreign troops on an increasingly aggressive basis. While our National Guard troops are effectively hamstrung by political restrictions, foreign military soldiers press the advantage. Border Patrol agents have already given their lives in a heroic effort to guard our border, and it is only a matter of time before we lose American soldiers. Is that what it will take for our government to finally take the matter of border security seriously? This is no longer a matter of local civilian law enforcement; it is a matter of national security. For politicians, no matter their affiliation, to play partisan games with our national safety and security is a betrayal of their constituents' trust, and the constitutional duties of their office.

Killing trees

If the environuts really want to save trees they shouldn't burn down new housing developments they believe are encroaching on their beloved woods. No. They should do something really meaningful, like take on the volume of paperwork required after someone dies.

An example?

I'm eligible for survivor's benefits under Hubby's pension. In addition to the application and (10) other forms that must accompany it, I also had to include a copy of my original Social Security card. And, you'll never guess what I can't find!

(The last time I saw it only a few months ago I decided to put it in a place I'd easily remember except ...)

Since the application and (10) other forms were all completed and only needed to be mailed, I called the pension office asking if they could waive the requirement for a copy of my original Social Security card. That might sound like I was asking for special treatment or something completely unreasonable but, to me, there was a very simple logic behind my request. Since my own bi-weekly pension check comes through the same office, they already have it on file . . . somewhere.

Their answer? No. I had to include a copy of my original Social Security card.

So, when not tearing the house apart hoping to locate the easy-to-remember place I put my original Social Security card, I began trying to contact the local Social Security office by phone. No luck. With as hard as their recorded message ("All lines are busy. Call back later. <click>") is working, it definitely deserves a raise.

A visit to their office . . . four hours before I can talk to someone? But all I need is ...

Their answer? No. I gotta wait.

Or, I could call the toll free number. Which I finally did. And after working my way through the menu system the computer-generated voice, recognizing the information on file for my telephone number, said that some time within the next two weeks I could expect receipt of the form I needed to complete and submit in order to get a replacement Social Security card. (The form is also available online BUT when I printed it out the fields had been obliterated by a gray mass that popped up on the screen. And no. It wasn't from me.) Except, I'd already picked the form up while I was at the local Social Security office. If it took two weeks just to get the blank form sent to me, I could only imagine how much longer it would take for them to process it and finally send me the danged thing.

So last Friday I went to the Social Security office. The wait was (supposedly) only 45 minutes and Herself suggested we wait. BUT she and I had other running around to do and I have the benefit (???) of 24 years, 5 months and 8 days working in and around local social service agencies. (I'm retired now, thank gawd.) Which translates to although we'd been told 45 minutes, I knew we'd still be sitting there in the lobby hours (and hours) later waiting for my number to be called. Besides, when someone in the packed waiting area overheard the security guard say 45 minutes, she began laughing and said he'd told her the same thing two hours ago.

Today I had more running around to do. Drop this form off here, get copies made of this and that and mailed out . . . and take my completed application for a replacement Social Security card to the Social Security office. I'd have to wait, I knew. How long, I didn't, but I was certain it would be the last trip I'd have to make there.

The application form states that picture identification must be presented before a replacement Social Security card can be authorized, to verify that you really are the person you claim to be. It specifies a driver's license although other forms of official identification such as a passport could also be used.

Three hours after arriving, I finally left the Social Security office with a printout saying my Social Security Number is assigned to someone with my name. That's all.

Social Security won't replace my card until I return to their office — (again) and sit there for more hours waiting for my number to be called — to provide one more verification: my birth certificate.

Things had changed, the woman behind the counter explained, since my last card was issued some thirty-odd years ago, and they have no information on file regarding my mother's full name (or her Social Security number), my father's full name (or his) or my place of birth.

No, it's not my identity that's being questioned. My citizenship is.

Funny how illegal aliens don't have to go through any of this bull shit.

(I know where my birth certificate is but I'll be damned if I'm going back to the Social Security office with it unless I have to get a replacement card. Which, now, I don't because the pension office said it will accept the printout provided as a substitute for a copy of my original Social Security card.)

"It is now national policy to fail to guard borders, to fail to prosecute those who bear forged documents, to fail to arrest illegal aliens even when found. It is our government’s policy to fail to notice the illegal labor pools operating openly in every major city in America. It is doctrine to fail to deport illegal aliens even when they are arrested for other crimes, and to fail to investigate corporations openly claiming they cannot function without illegal labor. It is protocol to fail to notice when “temporary” visa holders never leave, and to fail to pursue court decisions against cities that actively provide sanctuary for immigration criminals." -- Mac Johnson.

"[W]hy, oh why, doesn't the Senate put the same kind of teeth in the enforcement of the IRS codes as they do immigration law. I, for one, would love voluntary compliance applied here." -- Mahone Dunbar

Pull in the WELCOME mat

Dubya's going to be addressing the nation tonight on illegal immigration immigration reform. Sadly, I don't expect to hear much of anything new from him. He's still going to promote the guest worker program and unless something serious is done to secure our borders, if you think the volume of illegal aliens is bad now you ain't seen nothing yet.

Better border security will make it more difficult but even that's not going to solve the problem of illegal aliens coming in. Whether digging more tunnels under the border or being trucked in by coyotes, illegals will still find the lure of the United States even more tempting if all they have to do is get here. As soon as they do, all will be forgiven. Again.

This guest worker program that leads to citizenship? What's going to happen to the illegal aliens who aren't interested in becoming a US citizen. Are they going to be deported if they aren't? If they don't come forward to sign up for it and are caught? What about those who feign an interest with no intention of ever complying? Or are initially POSSIBLY interested and then change their minds.

I see the carrot but damned if I've yet to see any stick. That's because there isn't one.

We've got how many million illegals already here and even if we were able to track them all down, there's no way we're going to be able to deport them all. It's already impossible. When it comes to enforcement of our immigration laws, we're already in a downward spiral (flush your commode and watch the water) and it's only going to get worse unless a drastic step is taken.

The drastic step is to yank in the WELCOME mat. Via Boortz:

I've gone through this on the air and in the Nuze before, but just in case the president's speech writers wanted to take a look at my notes before they polished up Bush's remarks, (yeah ... right) ... here's just how to reverse the flow:

1. Harsh .. to the draconian level .. penalties against any employer who knowing hires any workers who are not in this country legally.

2. Punishment - though milder - of any employers who hire illegals because they didn't conduct due diligence in the hiring process.

3. Change the law to deny citizenship to children born to a woman who is in this country illegally.

4. No children of illegals in American government schools.

5. Deny all social welfare benefits to anyone who is in this country illegally with the one exception of life-saving medical care.

6. Confiscate a substantial portion of the monies earned in this country by illegal immigrants. We confiscate drug money because it was earned illegally, so why can't we confiscate the money earned by illegals? I'm not saying take it all. Leave them enough to buy some food and get a bus ticket to Matamoras.
Allow me to clarify Boort'z sixth item a bit since as the material I quoted says, he's talked about his proposals and included them in his Nuze several times.

Illegals in the United States from Mexico, as one example, have an established system that allows them to transmit back to to their families there an estimated $18 to $20 billion each year. Tax the living hell out of each transaction, with the funds strictly designated toward increasing and maintaining border security.

Put it all together and illegal aliens already here will find their way back out just as they found their way in. With concrete border security and with the elimination of the "carrots" luring them here, the number of illegal aliens will drop.

Drastically.

Smack 'em where it hurts

The tale's been around for ages. The one about slugging a particularly stubborn animal upside its head with a 2 by 4 to get its attention? Yep, that's the one.

Not surprisingly after Monday's "Day Without Illegals" the backlash continues to grow.

[A]nger evoked a word that immigrant organizers who opposed Monday's boycott feared: backlash. McDonald and other Americans were particularly disturbed by Monday's boycott and civil action, attended in large part by people who entered the country illegally and are now demanding rights enjoyed by U.S.-born citizens and immigrants who entered the country legally.

"How dare they," said McDonald, a research specialist for the University of Pittsburgh who said she voted for Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) in the 2004 presidential election. "If they are so active, why aren't they in Mexico City, why aren't they forcing their leaders there to deal with the quality of life? If you don't like it here, go home."
Various bloggers (Sorry, no links.) have noted that at its recent national committee meeting, the Democrats didn't even bother to bring up illegal immigration.

Guess what, boys and girls. The Republicans aren't planning to either.

I received an envelope today from the Republican National Committee. Inside -- along with a self-addressed, prepaid envelope -- was a questionnaire and a four-page cover letter from Ken Mehlman explaining its purpose.

Because the Republican National Committee can't contact everyone, I had been chosen to fill out this "especially registered" Census, My answers "will be used to develop a new BLUEPRINT for the Republican Party for the next ten years."

(I feel so speshul!)

I didn't take time to count but there are somewhere between 20 to 30 statements on it that I'm asked to mark as Agree, Disagree or Undecided. The specific subjects (to name only a few) that they're grouped under include the economy, social issues and national security.

What's glaringly absent from this Census is anything that can be even remotely connected to border security or illegal aliens. There's nothing.

Nothing!

I have 7 days to return this Census and I will.

I'll fill it out and send it in.

When it comes to the section about "promising" to vote for Republicans not just no but HELL NO! I've never voted a straight party ticket and don't intend to start now.

(I used to say the same thing to James Carville when he always wrote to me telling me just how speshul I was.)

And that beggin' section where I'm asked to send the RNC money, I'm not sending them a damned dime and I'm going to tell them exactly why.

If I'm going to contribute money for ANY election, it's going to go strictly to individual candidates whose views are closest to mine, ESPECIALLY when it comes to illegal aliens.

Later (05/04/06): My completed Census is in the mailbox. With it is the following letter:

Dear Mr. Mehlman:

Enclosed is my completed Census of the Republican Party. I appreciate the opportunity to participate.

Considering the demonstrations in the United States by and for illegal aliens demanding that this country bow to their will, I found it quite disappointing that not one statement in the BLUEPRINT to guide the Republican Party over the next ten years, addressed increased border security or the enforcement of immigration laws. The absence is glaring.

Please note that my contribution is "Nothing." If I am representative of other Republicans in my area and I believe I am, the RNC will see others like me choosing not to.

My support will go strictly to individual candidates whose views on illegal aliens and immigration mirror my own.

Again, thank you for the opportunity.

Sincerely,
